The Sounds of Our Lives

In today’s society, radios are common technology. Even coming into the Bluetooth age where vehicles sync up with your cell phone, a large number of people still listen to the radios in their cars. We’ve come a long way since the development of the radio in the late 1800s.

Radio shares some of its roots in our home-state. While Guglielmo Marconi is the person most credited for the invention of the radio, Nikolai Tesla demonstrated a wireless radio in St. Louis, MO in 1893. Radio is where our TCS Founder, Vernon Towner started the company – 54 years after Tesla’s Missouri demonstration.

During World War II Vernon taught Army personnel how to repair radios and when the war was over, he brought his bride to Jefferson City, MO to work on radios, which led to him opening his own radio repair company. Seventy-five years later, it is still an important part of our business. We may not repair radios anymore, but SOUND and how you hear it continues to play a strong role.
